Checking & updating firmware

Right now generation 4 (WR-G4) devices can be updated only using the BLE Dongle.

Step by step instructions

  1. Make sure you have the latest commission app software.

You can check it on the Google Play Store. However, you must be logged into your Google account.

  1. Make sure the Glamox Wireless Radio device you wish to update has been found and placed on the Site ID drawing. The Device Type will also need to be noted.

  1. Make sure your BLE DONGLE is connected to the App. Click on the Bluetooth icon and check if the BLE DONGLE has firmware version 3.140 or higher, if not, go to the Updating LMS WIRELESS DONGLE

  2. Go to Projects. Click on Firmware.

  1. Find and select the Device Type you want to update in the top left dialog box. Devices that are on drawings on this site will be marked blue, other devices are marked grey.

  2. Select Load on the correct firmware version you wish to use located in the bottom left dialog box. The official firmware version is marked Current. The screen will turn grey for 10 seconds to load the firmware file to the Dongle, please wait for this to finish.

Current – The official and recommended version of this component.

Stable – A reliable version that is not officially released but is safe to use. It may be tailored for specific markets or use cases.

Beta/Test – A pre-release version undergoing testing. It has the potential to become the official version but may still contain issues.

Dangerous – An unstable version that can cause serious issues or damage your device. Do not install or use under any circumstances.

If you are unable to see Library files in the bottom left dialog box, click the Refresh button and wait 15 seconds. Then click on the Device Type in the top left dialog box again and firmware files will have now downloaded.

  1. The Firmware file will now be loaded into the Dongle (this can be seen in the bottom right dialog box)

  1. Now you will be selecting target rules for the device you are updating. We recomend for the Version Min and Version Maximum should be set to the same version you are currently updating to. Now close the firmware page.

If you have set rules before, when you click on Version Min you will get an additional box. Click edit rule to move to selecting versions.

  1. Once you have created your firmware rules, click Close on the Software Update page.

  2. Click on the Luminaires tab. You will now see a RED Firmware value over the device which you have set an update. Now long click on the firmware version of device until a pop up box appears asking if you wish to automatically update devices, click yes.

  1. Stand close to the Glamox Wireless Radio device you wish to update, click on the RED button

    The screen will turn grey for roughly a few minutes to update the devices Firmware. Please do not turn the screen off or press any other buttons at this time.

If the update fails, move the DONGLE closer to the device and retry this step.

If you are using an LMS Wireless Scene Controller Battery, then you will need to wake the device up before updating it.

To do this, perform one of two actions, either:

  • Press button one (release), then press and hold button one and button two together for 5 seconds (release).

OR

  • Press button one 6 times within 10 seconds.

  1. To verify the update has been completed, select the device again and click on the top left corner of the commissioning app to refresh and identify the new Firmware version.

  2. To go out of the updating mode long press firmware version.
