Device List

Device List is a section where we have displayed all the DALI devices. It is a useful tool to filter our luminaires or control devices. This article is a presentation of these sections and includes instructions on how to set DALI parameters.

Device list overview

[1] Main device list consist of three main lists:

  • General lightning - list of regular luminaires

  • Emergency lightning - list of emergency luminaires

  • Control devices - buttons, sensors etc.

[2] Devices filters by vertexes, DALI bus, group and status of luminaire

[3] Actions tab will highlight after checking any luminaires box [5]

In this tab you can set basic parameter like powe on level - this will enable to decide on which level luminaire should be turned on after turning on vertex. You can set also fade rate of selected luminaire.

[4] In manage column options you can set what will be seen on the list of filtered devices

On the left side ready to use profiles are available.

It is useful to test devices while commissioning. For that purpose is identify switch [6]

We can enter in particular luminaire and get this view.

To see instances of control devices enter Control Devices [7]. Mark button or sensor you want to check [8] and then go to Actions [9] list and select Change instance events [10]

While programming in nodered in blocks Dali2Devs or Dali2Devs common we can enable instances for our sensors or buttons. They are disable by default. We can set instances of our control devices in UI settings.

Changing sensor instance properties

Depending on the sensors usage we can set different parameters:

  • Report timer - amount of time in seconds after which a reading from the sensor will be sent to the system

  • Deadtime timer - amount of time in seconds for the duration of which the sensor will not be sending out any readings

  • Hysteresis - the precentage of Lux over which the system will send a correction to meet the set Lux value. Not to be used with Report time - may cause exeeding trafic on bus

  • Hysteresis min - the minimal amount of Lux from set value that will send a correction to the system. Used as an additional security for reducing constant light jumps in case of a sensor being used for both low Lux and high set Lux levels.

Changing button instance properties

  • Short timer - time that the button needs to be held for the syetem to register a click

  • Double timer - time between clicks for the system to interpret as a double click

  • Repetition timer - time between clicks for the system to interpret as a new click

  • Stuck timer - amount of time in seconds for the duration of which the button needs to be held for the button to move into stuck mode

Setting DALI-2 parameters

In the E2D UI, you can configure DALI-2 parameters connected to the luminaire driver, e.g.:

  • fade time

  • power on level

  • system failure level

Instructions

  1. Go to Device list section [14].

  2. Select a device(s) [15] , Click Actions [16] and select Change properties [17].

You can update multiple luminaires at once. We recommend doing so in smaller groups as it’s more efficient.

You can choose from a fixed set of Fade Time values. They are defined by the DALI standard: IEC 62386-102.

  1. Click Save configuration to device [18].

  1. New values for the parameters will then be sent to the DALI drivers. You will see the confirmation in the upper right corner of the E2D UI.
