Device naming
Device naming provides you with a way of giving all your devices unique names in a few clicks. Just choose the devices and set a naming rule; That’s it!
Device naming
To batch name your devices, go to Settings → Devices → Device naming
1. Choose light management system
Choose between the light management systems that are connected to your site. If there are no systems in list, then chances are you don’t have a lighting system connected to your site yet.
2. Select gateways
Select the gateways you would like to batch name devices from, either by checking off gateways individually, or selecting all gateways by clicking the “Select all” option.
3. Choose naming pattern
Each device needs it own unique name. Therefore we need to describe a naming rule/syntax that ensures that the generation of names are unique. This is done through the use of identifier codes. See Identifier code description below for explanation of the identifiers.
Adding identifier codes to the lines is done by selecting the line you want to add a identifier code to. Then either by clicking on the identifier code you want or by typing in “@” and select the code from a list of next to cursor.
You can combine identifier codes with the text of your choosing when creating a naming rule.
Identifier code | Description |
---|---|
SHORT | Local short address identifier |
SHORT+1 | Local short address identifier with +1 added, ex short address 0 becomes 1. |
GW | Unique identifier for gateway |
SYSTEM | From which system the device is reporting from, e.g (Wireless Zigbee, Ethernet2Dali and more) |
DEV_SERIAL | Serial code of device |
LINE | Which line number on gateway the device is physically connected to. |
MAC | Mac address of device |
4. Batch rename
Clicking “batch rename” button will rename all devices on the gateways that are selected and have a valid naming convention.
Note: Omitted/blank lines will not change the name for any devices connected to those lines.
When batch naming is finished, it will display how many devices were renamed, and give you the option to download a log file that shows the changes for each device.
