Installation guidelines

The installation must be done in accordance with the best practices for electrical work. The type and protection class of the connected devices must conform with regulations.

DALI installation

The DALI installation should be done in compiance with IEC 62386 standard. For more information go to DiiA website

DALI bus cable parameters

Wiring for DALI needs a minimum cross-section of 1.5 mm2. Connect all devices (input devices and luminaires to the DALI buses of the VERTEX controllers.

DALI bus length

The maximum length of the DALI wiring with a 1.5 mm2 cross-section is 300 m. If that distance is
exceeded the system may not work correctly.

See how to double this distance.

Electrical conditions for the DALI bus

The correct voltage range for the DALI bus:

  • 9.5-22.5V DC, typicaly: 16V DC

The continuous current for each DALI bus must not exceed:

  • 230mA for Vertex3

  • 180mA for Vertex2

Device limits on the DALI bus

Remember about the three basic limitations that are important for the correct operation of the Ethernet2DALI system:

  1. Maximum current value limit

  2. Address number limit

  3. Number of sensors and panels on one bus

LAN network installation

The network must be installed in accordance with the best practices for electrical work. Use F-UTP category 5e cables. Install the RJ-45 on the cable ends. The maximum cable distance between the network devices is 100 m.

The structural cabling, measurements must be performed to verify conformity with ISO 1181 or EN 50173.
