How does it work?

Glamox Wireless Zigbee is the ideal solution for both renovation projects and new installations. It combines occupancy and daylight sensing in one package. The result is a cost-effective and easy-to-install solution ideal for energy savings.

System architecture

Please remember that this is a closed system. You can only use Glamox components for this system.

A stand-alone system sets up multiple wireless Zigbee nodes such as luminaires with an MPW sensor or an external Zigbee sensor (ZIGBEE PIR CLS SENSOR) into a single network or group; thereby enabling occupancy sharing, sophisticated light behavior and manual switch control over the group. The system can be set up via a phone app which makes the phone act as a gateway. Therefore, a stand-alone system comprises Wireless Zigbee devices, a manual switch and a Wireless Zigbee app.

For setting up the system, the Wireless Zigbee app opens a BLE connection between the app and the sensor device. The app creates a network id & key, and exchanges BLE security credentials to add a node to the group. When an installer proceeds to add the next device to the same group, it then assigns the same network id & key to the 2nd node. The process of adding more sensor nodes can continue up to 30 devices, beyond which creating another group is advised. Each of the sensor devices when added to a group, gets connected with other sensor nodes in a ZigBee mesh sharing the same assigned network id.

For adding a manual switch, the app opens the ZigBee GreenPower (ZGP) network and the installer can commission a ZGP switch to manually control the lights.

Once a group is created, the light behavior can be configured from the Wireless ZigBee app to meet application requirements.

Commissioning overview

The commissioning is done by using a mobile Glamox Wireless Zigbee app. The app guides you step by step through the entire process. The app works via Bluetooth technology and is available for free on App Store and Google Play.

For end users, there is a Glamox wUser app that enables control of the light intensity of luminaires.
