(Classic) LAN network design

It is really helpful to draw a schematic LAN network diagram. Arrange all Vertexes on the design according to the design rules. Choose the right number of LAN switches. Remember about additional devices, such as the cloud gateway and the connection to the BMS.

LAN network design rules:

  1. The maximum distance between devices is 100 m.

  2. To connect BMS, use Modbus TCP/IP.

  3. The LAN switch requires an external power supply.

Small LAN network

Good practices:

  • Do not use all switch outputs – leave a reserve (spare) in case of system expansion or the need for a service intervention.

Large project with more Vertexes:

  1. Up to 25 Vertexes can work in one group (cluster). If more Vertexes are required, create more clusters.

  2. One E2D REMOTE ACCESS KIT can be connected to one cluster. If there are more clusters, more devices should be added.

Large LAN network

If you have two types of ApCs in your project (Vertex 2 and Vertex 3), below you will find instructions on how to combine them in one system, how to replace the device on site, how they differ, etc.
