Make sure that you've completed the previous step: How to get into Vertex GUI?
Vertex 2 and Vertex 3 have completetly different software that can't be mixed. Vertex 2 software always starts with a 2 and has numbers like 2.10.1 and Vertex 3 has numbers begining with 3 like 3.1.20.
You cannot update e.g. software version 2.10.1 to 3.1.8.
When updating the Vertex 2 software, the whole Vertex cluster is updated.
When updating the Vertex 3 software, you have to update each Vertex controller in the cluster individually.
Instructions
In the Vertex GUI:
Go to the Settings section.
Log in as an administrator. The default credentials are:
login: admin
password: admin1234Check the software version in the Vertex cluster tab and compare to the current version here Vertex release notes.
Download the software version you need.
Go to the Software tab.
6. You will see the SWUpdate software screen. Upload the software file with the Software Update.
7. Wait until everything is uploaded. Don’t worry if the process temporarly pauses. This happens because the file that is being processed is large.
8. After the upload is finished, you will see a notification that the system is restarting. Wait until the whole page is reloaded (about 30 seconds).
9. The system will then restart for the 2nd time. Do not exit the page until it’s finished.
10. Go to the Vertex GUI and refresh it. Check if you have the uploaded version of the software.
Here, we used default credentials to log in as administrator. We advise you to change the password for security.
After this step, time synchronization is recommended.
