Make sure that you've completed the previous step: How to get into Vertex GUI?

Pay attention to the type of software. /wiki/spaces/ME/pages/19405210643 have different software versions. The numbering of the Vertex 2 software version starts with the number 2 (e.g. 2.10.1) and for the Vertex 3, it starts with 3 (e.g. 3.1.8).

You cannot update e.g. software version 2.10.1 to 3.1.8.

When updating the Vertex 2 software, the whole Vertex cluster is updated.

When updating the Vertex 3 software, you have to update each Vertex controller in the cluster individually.

Instructions

In the Vertex GUI:

  1. Go to the Settings section.

  2. Log in as an administrator. The default credentials are:
    login: admin
    password: admin1234

  3. Check the software version in the Vertex cluster tab. Compare it with the current version of the software.

  4. Download the software file if needed.

  5. Go to the Software tab.

6. You will see the SWUpdate software screen. Upload the downloaded software file with the Software Update.

7. Wait until everything is uploaded. Don’t worry if the upload will be stuck at 3 or 4%. It happens because the file that needs to be processed is large. Later the upload will speed up.

8. After the upload is finished, you will see information about restarting the system. Wait until the whole page is reloaded - for about 30 seconds.

9. After a while, the system will restart for the 2nd time. Do not exit the page.

10. Go to the Vertex GUI and refresh it by pressing ctrl+F5 or refreshing the page if you’re on a mobile device. Check if you have the current version of the software. You will see the information about new release notes.

Here, we used default credentials to log in as administrator. We advise you to change the password for safety reasons.

After this step, time synchronization is recommended.
