Connect the gateways to power and ethernet
If DALI gateway, also connect DALI line(s)
Connect the access point to 24V power and ethernet
Make sure the access point has access to the network where the gateways are connected
Only the access point speaks to the Glamox Connect cloud. The access point communicates with all gateways and administer the two-way communication between the gateways and the cloud
Check the serial number on front of access point (5 digits)
Go to URL http://GlamoxConnectCore<serial>.local, for example http://GlamoxConnectCore30288.local if the serial is 30288
Make sure that the IP addresses of the gateways will be consistent, either by IT binding the mac address to an static IP (recommended) or by assigning static IP
The Access point WebUI from 5. will list all gateways on the network with current settings as long as multicast is enabled in the network
For Wireless Zigbee, log in to the web ui of the gateway to set IP if needed
For Ethernet2Dali, use Firestarter app to set up IP addresses of gateways
For DALI Complete you need to use an external tool, as the DALI gateway does not provide any WebUI
Recommended to use free software like for example Lantronix - Device installer
Network setup
Multicast (optional, access point to discover gateways)
DHCP (optional)
Internet access
Port | Protocol | What |
---|---|---|
8883 | TCP | AWS MQTT |
8443 | TCP | AWS Calls |
1883 | TCP | AWS MQTT |
443 | TCP | AWS Calls |
Any port | UDP | Access point upgrade, reporting++ |
We HIGHLY recommend isolating the lighting components in a own network, without access to other components at your internal network setup.
Glamox gateways only needs to be discoverable and reachable from access point
Access point(s) needs to communicate with gateways, as well as the Glamox cloud servers
Finding a device from the mac address
If your access point can’t find the gateways the main issue is probably that they are not on the same network. If you are sure this is not the case, you can try to connect to the network yourself and search for devices.
Make sure you are connected to the same network as the device. Then open a terminal (for example Command Prompt on Windows). Type in “arp -a” and you will get a list of devices with their IP and mac address (physical address).
Find the IP address (internet address) related to your MAC address
DALI complete gateway
To change the IP on the DALI gateway, use a free tool like Lantronix (https://www.lantronix.com/products/deviceinstaller/). Make sure you are connected to the same network and search for devices.
Choose the gateway you want to change on the left side menu and press “Assign IP”. Follow the instructions to configure the IP settings
The gateway has pullout panels on top and bottom of the front. Here you can find detailed information about the gateway like the mac address.
Wireless Zigbee gateway
The Zigbee gateway has a WebUI for easy setup. This WebUI can be reached from your access points WebUI at http://GlamoxConnectCore<serial>.local
Follow gateway manual to go to admin page, default http://192.168.0.211.
You can change the network settings of the gateway under “Network settings”.
Access point
The access point is a linux computer, in the form of a Kunbus RevPi Core 3+. This is a industry grade Raspberry Pi 3+ compute module, running a customized linux distribution.
The device is set up to receive IP via DHCP. To set up static IP, go to the access point webUI at http://GlamoxConnectCore<serial>.local
There you can set the access point IP, network mask, gateway and name servers
The IP settings of the Access point is of no importance to Glamox Connect. Only the gateway IP’s are important in the setup
For Glamox technicians to reach the device, it is set up with ZeroTier. This requires UDP 9993 to be open out of the network. If the network is set up with DHCP, it will automatically connect, and the technicians can reach the device. As a fallback, a USB 4G modem can be connected to bypass any firewalls while setting up the system.
Tested 4G modems
Huawei E3531
Note: USB 4G modems that acts as a network interface, without PIN code, can work. Try on your own machine to verify no drivers are needed, and the dongle acts as a normal network interface (no special software required)
