The commissioning software allows you to set different settings, within the same profile, to account for periods of time when buildings are operational and when they are unoccupied, except for security staff.

Hardware

All luminaire controllers can perform this operation.

Commissioning

How to Implement

In order to set the Occupied/Unoccupied mode -

  • Go to the profile screen and ensure you are in Component View.

  • Click on the driver icon.

  • Ensure that the Basic/Advanced button shows Advanced by clicking on it if necessary

  • Tick DayNightEnabled.

  • Now you can enter a second set of On, Standby Level and Standby Time settings.

The PIR timeout can also be modified in the same way by clicking on the PIR box and following the instructions above.

Guidance Notes

When Occupied

  • If there are no retriggers within a period of DayNightTimeOut multiplied by 3 then we switch to UnOccupied Mode.

When Unoccupied

  • We wait for the DayNightTimeOut seconds.

  • If there were any retriggers in the period, we

    increment a Counter.

  • If there were no retriggers, we then we decrement the

    Counter.

  • If the Counter gets to 3 then we reset it and switch to

    Occupied Mode.

Effects

The effect on energy saving can be significant and can be viewed via the portal which splits energy use down between occupied and unoccupied mode.

If there were no ‘unoccupied settings’ applied on this site then the additional energy savings shown on the lower graph would not be able to be realised and the base level would remain as the red value on the top graph.
