(WIP) LMS WIRELESS ACCESS POINT: Industrial & Office

...

Factors to consider when installing an Access Point

When installing an ACCESS POINT it’s important to consider the following:

...

make sure that it is located in range of at least 20

...

lumianires in a 75m radius, preferbaly in the center of the luminaires and not in enclosed

...

areas. It can connect to up to a 1000 lumianires, but only if they are located in up to 7 signal ”hops”. Reliability reduces with the number of hops.

Locations it is good to avoid when placing an ACCESS POINT in the system are storage areas, factory floor settings, corner areas of a building. Depending on building characteristics like concrete, steel, machinery or thick walls will impact the quantity of luminaires which report to an individual ACCESS POINT, in those cases you might need a bigger amout of ACCESS POINTs in your system to cover all areas. Lights can report to more than one ACCESS POINT

...

. If you require additional coverage more ACCESS POINTs can be added at anytime and no additional commissioning will be required.

ACCESS POINTs need a power supply and a connection to the internet. Glamox supply versions for 4G, Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection

Connections

ACCESS POINTs can be supplied with 4G connections or Ethernet and Wi-Fi adapters.

4G

  • A 4G An add-on pack package is available supplied with 12 months data. At the end of the 12 month period, clients can maintain their own SIM contracts.

  • 4G It provides connectivity without involving the client’s IT infrastructure and is generally suitable for all environments which receive a mobile signal.

  • Monitoring uses approximately 1 Gb per 1,000 luminaires per month for monitoring with additional data used for.

Ethernet

  • Provides a free wired communication.

  • Ethernet is free from the interference of Wi-Fi networks, walls or other physical barriers.

  • When using this option it is important to consider the feasibility of installing Ethernet points across an existing building to ensure full coverage.

...

  • Wi-Fi provides a connection where it is difficult to install Ethernet points.

  • When using this option is important to consider the stability of the Wi-Fi connection in the building. If the Wi-Fi drops out fails or the password is changedchanges, then the ACCESS POINT will lose connection to the internet and, without providing an alternative connection, cannot be re-established.
