Glamox Connect will display devices based on their uniqueness. This means that it is the physical device that is represented in Connect, not the local identifier that might be used, i.e. a name based on building drawing or even the DALI short address that the device has been assigned to.

Example:

You have a device that is faulty and needs replacement. This device is named “UN01-H23-23” as the identifier in the building and from technical drawings. It is located on DALI line 1 and short address 2.

Connect is using an identifier in the device as a unique ID. This means that even though the device is renamed or even moving to different short address, Connect will still see this as the same device and keep history.

When the physical device gets replaced, Connect wil get this device a new device. As the original device can no longer be found, this device will get a fault for device missing.

To finish replacing the device in Connect one needs to identify the new device in Connect. Then this device can be chosen to replace the existing device in order to preserve the “functional device history”. With this we mean the energy history and other information related to the use of the building, room or floorplan history and more. The “technical history” like fault information and other information related to the hardware is connected to the device and will not be copied.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Replace the device according to the local system;

    1. Changing the device physically

    2. Addressing the device according to local system specifications

  2. Enter Glamox Connect. The new device will now be discovered by Glamox Connect and added to the system as a new device.

  3. If you want the device to take the old device’s place you can do this from Settings [1]→ Site [2]

  1. Once in the Place devices screen, drag the new device from the list on the left side and drop it on top of the old device.
    You will then get a dialogue helping you to the correct choice [5]:

  • “Yes, replace it” - The new device will take the old devices' place and inherit its history. The old device will still be present in the system, but not on any floorplan.

  • “No, add it as new” - The new device will be added to the floorplan as a new device next to old device. Old device will remain unchanged.

  • “Replace and delete old device from site” - Same as replacing BUT old device will be removed from the site (Hidden device). Use this if you are sure this is the correct device and that old device definately has been completely removed from the local installation.
