Q: Help, I don't know how to use function "X"!
A: Most of the functionality in OptiWin 3D pro PRO is described in the help file. You can press F1 to access the help file at any time in OptiWin 3D prothis knowledge base. A link to the main Confluence page is available from the main menu of OptiWin PRO.

Q: The application suddenly stops working with an "Out of memory" error.
A: This can in most cases be fixed with a restart, especially on Windows XP. You can also reduce the chance of this error by closing unncesessary unneccessary applications.

Display

Q: The graphics in the luminaire window and/or CAD window are corrupted!
A: This is usually resolved simply by updating your graphics drivers to the latest version.

Q: I updated the graphics drivers on my laptop/notebook, but it still doesn't work properly!
A: Newer laptops use hybrid graphics technology, which usually combines Intel and some other vendor graphics.
In some cases, this might not work with OptiWin 3D proPRO. In such cases, the problem can be resolved by forcing the system to use the discrete GPU (NVIDIA/AMD).

  1. Start the NVIDIA Control Panel

  2. Choose 'Manage 3D Settings'

  3. Choose the 'Global Settings' tab

  4. Select the 'NVIDIA' entry from the Main GPU dropdown list

  5. Save settings and restart Optiwin 3D proPRO

Instructions for the AMD Hybrid technology:

  1. Start the Advanced Catalyst Control Center ('CCC - Advanced')

  2. Click the Graphics menu and select 'Switchable Graphics'

  3. Click on the 'High-performance GPU' button

  4. Click OK to save settings, then restart Optiwin 3D proPRO

Luminaire Placement

Q: I changed luminaire types, and now the calculation result seems to be much lower than expected.
A: When changing luminaire types the height of the luminaires will not be automatically adjusted. Select your luminaires/groups and use the function 'Place in ceiling' to fix this.
